Statement from Congressional Candidate Case Dixon on the Shooting of Two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 26, 2025

Hueytown, AL — Case Dixon, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Alabama’s 6th District, issued the following statement in response to today’s shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C.:

Reports now indicate that the two National Guardsmen who were shot earlier today may still be alive, but the extent of their injuries remains unclear. I am praying urgently for their recovery and for the medical teams working to save their lives. No one wearing the uniform of this nation should ever have to face this kind of senseless violence.

As we await more information, we also have to acknowledge a reality that too many people want to gloss over: rhetoric matters. ‘Gestapo.’ ‘Racist.’ ‘Supremacist.’ ‘Antisemite.’ These are not words to use lightly. They can justify violence, and careless use can incite unstable people who are searching for an excuse to do harm. When public figures throw these labels around casually, whether toward our military, our police, journalists, or individual citizens, it creates an environment where the most unhinged individuals feel validated in taking dangerous actions.

To be clear, the responsibility for this shooting lies solely with the attacker. He alone chose to pick up a weapon and attempt to take the lives of two innocent service-members. But we can all help prevent tragedy by choosing our words responsibly. Public figures in particular, with large platforms and wide reach, must understand that their rhetoric can influence millions and may have consequences far beyond what they intend.

This incident should remind us that we can debate policy and hold institutions accountable without dehumanizing those who wear the uniform or those we disagree with. Alabama deserves leaders who raise the standard of our public discourse, and I am committed to being one of them.
